alinear umbilical

recall the coil

unravel the spine

and stretch like

weft unwintering

trace along the

ground a line

to ancestry that

knows no frost

and there under her

monsoon sun

i feel the gentle

pull and trust


tomorrow we

do not recoil

our trails are

tilled by wrinkled

hands that know

to bend and

write in bark


what do we know

of fury that

stamps its roots

and stand

unbowed


there is wisdom

in these folds

furrowed by

rivers of

revolutions gone

and we?


the future

is possible

but like all

seed we are

of our soil


pull that

time braided

twine and

push


a sprout

of spring

becoming
